Show Synopsis

This week we will Distance Learning Opportunities. What opportunities has technology opened for us and for our kids.

Are you worried that your kids will get “lazy” during the summer? Do you just want to give them a jump start? Do you need to repeat a class? Are you changing careers and need to go back to school but can't because of time and family commitments? Do you want to advance in your current career?

Then listen in as Craig interviews educational experts in the field of Distance/Online education. You may even be suprised at what you learn about what you thought you knew about Online and Distance Education programs. Craig discuss technology advancements in learning and online opportunities.

This Weeks Guests

6:44-6:50 - Craig will talk with the University of Phoenix Online which is the largest Online university in the United States. They have programs from Associate Degrees through Doctoral Degrees.

7:06-7:20 - John Bower the CEO or Lexia Learning. Craig will discuss the Lexia Learning Reading and cognitive learning software with John. This software is primarily used in schools but is now available for you to use at home. This means that you can continue working with your child and using the same tools that they are using at the school to assist your child at home.

7:23-7:29:50 - Patrick Supanc of Blackboard will join Craig to talk about their line of products and how they are used to help students when they are out of class. These products allow tutoring, homework help, exam help and communication with the professor.

7:34-7:42 - Jon Kaplan of Walden University will join Craig to discuss the Myths of Online Education. You may be suprised by the truth about Online Education.

7:44-7:50 - Dr. Sarkozi from Virginia Commonwealth University will join Craig to discuss some of the Innovative distance learning projects that they are able to bring into the classroom including one designed to link students with scientists at the polar ice station in Antarctica.

8:06-8:20 - Thomas M. Rollins of the Teaching Company will join Craig and talk about how their company ignites people's passion for lifelong learning by offering great courses taught by great professors. They locate the best professors in the subject and record classes with notes and syllabuses that give you the knowledge in the comfort of your own home. Their products are excellent. A Ivy League Education at a fraction of the cost.

8:23-8:29:50 - Liz Pape the CEO of Virtual High School will join Craig to discuss what is available for high school students. They can take classes and get Credit at their local high school. They offer AP Courses and Honors Course as well.

8:34-8:42 - Dr. Gary Matkin from the University of California at Irvine will join Craig to discuss how technology has challenged the traditional role of university continuing education.

8:44-8:50 - Drew Deutsch from the Princeton Review will join Craig to discuss their programs and how they have designed them to facilitate educational opportunities.
